Bogturtle's Garden- August 1-15, 2023

  Here every night, one or two Gray Fox are, for me, the most interesting regulars.  Raccoons, one of which must sleep in the barn rafters, Possums and Skunks also show up. Have not seen a Coyote in a month or so. No Red Fox in a year or so, and, thankfully, no neighborhood dogs. An occasional cat. Never ever a rat. The scraps from the kitchen are thrown out by the barn for years now. The date is 2 days off, but the hour seems correct. Just typical of what I see, every morning, checking the SDHC cards. Really could not publish videos before. As those lasted 20 seconds and this system could not handle that, but these new ones are only 10 seconds long.   Lilium tigrinum, again. Originally, several of the little bulbils, that form where leaves attach to the stem, were picked off a neighbors plant. They had, already, the tiny start of a root on them.  Interesting to me is that several of the species of Honeysuckle, on the property, keep putting out occasional blooms until frost. A display,

 Having posted this blog since about 2003, I am impressed with how many sorts of plants have been attempted, how many were successes and how many are no longer here. Going back into old photos is kind of amazing as I assess which ones are still here, some pests, some treasured, and a number of beautiful ones I never succeeded with while I have no explanation why they did not succeed. Others, I have lost, were quite clearly not for my soil or zone.  Having lost this shrub, unexplainably, several years ago, I ordered a replacement, and this is its second year. Good to see it thriving.                Buddlea weyerianna 'Honeycomb'. Having both my phone and finepix camera to take photos, I know, now, that clearer photos come from the little camera.
