The Garden of Bogturtle

 Rudbeckia 'Goldstrum' or 'Goldstorm' is a vigorous plant and was quite dominant in this one corner of the garden. But I thinned it so vigorously that I almost lost it.  Glad to see some, and hope it regains territory. Trumpet Flower 'Jersey Peach' again. The 'Lamb's Ears' looked so good that I decided to photograph it again. Of the many 'Marsh Mallows' I have purchased or started from seed, only this bubble gum pink remains. As big as a dinner plate, with many more to come. The Deer freely munch on them and this one would also be gone if not frequently sprayed with repellent. I guess they are safe, with roots in areas where backish tidal water, surely quite fresh, and not too salty, comes in. For the first time ever, I bought tomato plants. Used to start some in the heated little box on the potting table. Cannot even say if the heating cable still works, it has been so long. In recent years we bought them at a local produce store. But this year I bought 3 plants. Two cherry types, small plants and cheap. And one I did not price. Shocked, when I got home and checked, as I should have checked upon purchase. Would not have paid even $12, and I paid $20. The first finally got ripe. Wondering how many I will have to get before the plant actually pays for itself. I hope its really good. Crocosmia 'Diablo'.  A 4 foot tall plant in the perennial bed and also in the bank of plants in front of the screen that blocks the potting bench from where we sit to eat, across the yard.  This Hydrangea is also among several that line the exit drive.  A mix of recently shown and new for this year. The exit drive from where we park. A circle has been very practical, all these years. Not a clear picture of the return blooming Daylily, 'Happy Returns'. And I cannot show a mass of them. I suspect, despite my spraying, a Deer or two got busy, one morning.  Almost no buds left.  Thankfully, the Deer don't bother our native Butterfly Weed, Asclepias tuberosa. Seed grown ones are both in pots and various places on the property. One of the two urns by the steps into the screened porch. Totally hidden now by the Ivy. Astilbe 'Bridal Veil' and a white margined Hosta in the shade on the North side of the house, by the front walk. Just another photo of a more dwarf sort of Oakleaf Hydrangea. The camera did not take clear photos, today. The beautiful 'Maltese Cross' Lychnis calcedonica, could achieve foot wide heads of flowers. Am just happy it is here, and hope I can coddle it a little.
